The garden path….

September 30, 2011

It seems time for me to redesign the garden a bit this Autumn. I find myself longing for more garden paths that rather meander through overgrown herbs and flowers. Time for more height and color, me thinks.

Most of my garden planning inspiration comes from a favorite garden in England. I lived near Hidcote garden in Glostershire, spending many hours meandering. There’s that word again! There is such perfect harmony there. It was the life’s passion of one man, self-taught gardener Lawrence Johnston who created his ‘garden of rooms’. Each one has a slightly different flavour. He began his masterpiece in 1907 and it took about 47 years to complete this amazing sanctuary. My own little garden path will be, of course, much less grand. One can, however, dream. I hope you find time this Autumn to dream about your own Spring garden…Joni
